The Virgin Suicides

Possibly the most haunting soundtrack ever.

I love the book, and the film too. Probably because they all work together in this perfectly evocative sympathy that rings some profound bell in my teenage self.

No masterpiece, I'm sure, but rather this fondness for the odd narrative and disjointed timelines, and words like a cat lapping milk.

  1. I loved this so much in high school. I jammed out to the soundtrack all the time when I was getting ready in the morning. Eugenides is one of my fave writers. I wish he'd come out with a new book soon. He recently edited a collection of short stories called "My Mistress's Sparrow Is Dead", and it's all really weird love stories. I highly recommend it!

  2. i still have to see this movie. weird that i haven't done so yet.

anyways, you got tagged on my blog. i don't know if you do these kinds of things, but feel free in case you'd like to. just some odd questionnaire-thing =)
